This course teaches fundamental coding skills for an outpatient physician setting, and the training prepares the student to take the AAPC CPC® exam for a career in medical coding. The course provides the most up-to-date information relating to CPT®, ICD-10-CM Volumes 1 & 2, and HCPCS Level II coding. The training also assures a broad, encompassing knowledge and expertise in reviewing and assigning the correct procedure and diagnosis codes for physician services. The course provides instruction in the following areas:

  • Understand the regulations, ethics, and laws that impact coding;
  • Understand the appropriate application of CPT®, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes to multi-specialty medical records;
  • Develop proficiency in applying the official ICD-10-CM Coding Guidelines for Outpatient Services;
  • Learn the various CPT® Modifiers and correct application; and
  • Preparation for CPC™ examination.

Degrees & Certificates

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion, and may be qualified to sit for the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Exam, the Certified Professional Coder Exam (CPC or CPC-H Apprentice), the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) exam; and/or other national certification exams.

Admission Requirements

Individuals must meet the following requirements for admission:

  • Have earned a high school diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old.
Application Procedure

The Medical Coding class size is limited to the first 25 students who have completed the application process.

Tuition & Payment Options

Total Cost: $3,295 (includes textbooks, AAPC membership fee, & AAPC exam voucher)

Payment  Plan: $3,325 Total Cost (includes tuition, textbooks, AAPC membership fee, AAPC exam voucher, and a $30 one-time payment plan fee)

The first payment of $689 is due at the time of registration and includes the one-time $30 fee. Four additional payments of $659 are due monthly. Cash payments cannot be used to set up payment plans; payment plans are set up online. Checking and routing information is preferred.  Credit and debit card payments are accepted but additional fees apply.
