EKG Technician

EKG Technicians perform EKG testing, coordinate Holter monitoring, and perform stress tests in a hospital laboratory, doctor’s office, or clinic. This course provides instruction in EKG unit operation and troubleshooting, lead placement utilizing 12 lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognizing normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all 12 leads, and plotting EKG axis. This course combines 70 hours of in-person instruction and requires 14 hours of Skills Labs.

Degrees & Certificates

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion. Additionally, graduates will be qualified for the optional certification examination offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) and Cardiovascular Credential Institute (CCI).

Program Requirements and Registration

Individuals must meet the following requirement for admission:

  • Have earned a high school diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card

The EKG Technician class size is limited to the first 20 students who have completed the registration process. Download the informational packet to get started.

Tuition & Payment Options

Total Cost: $1,845 (includes textbooks & NHA exam voucher)

Payment Plan: $1,875 Total Cost (includes a $30 one-time payment plan fee)

The first payment of $491.25 is due at the time of registration and includes the one-time $30 fee. Three additional payments of $461.25 are due monthly. Cash payments cannot be used to set up payment plans; payment plans are set up online. Checking and routing information is preferred.  Credit and debit card payments are accepted but additional fees apply.

Financial Aid: Eligible students may receive financial aid for 50% of the tuition. Apply at https://studentaid.gov/.

Scholarship: Students may be eligible for the Direct Your Destiny (DYD) Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) Scholarship. For more information see https://www.templejc.edu/programs/adult-basic-education/
