Criteria for Art Scholarship Recipients

Anyone interested in receiving an art department scholarship should download and fill out the art scholarship application form included here. First-time applicants must also have a portfolio review with members of the Temple College art faculty. Scholarship amounts are contingent on the number of applicants, the amount of annual funding, and the quality/need of the applicants. Both partial and full scholarships are distributed.

Portfolio reviews for the fall semester are always in the preceding first week of May of that year. Portfolio reviews for the spring semester are held in the first week of December prior to that spring semester. Applicants should bring at least three of their best works. If an applicant desires a portfolio review or application form, the applicant should call the number below.

Scholarship applicants must be art majors and promise to enroll in at least 6 hours in the fall/spring semester. Applicants must be enrolled in at least two art classes, preferably more. Students selected for an art scholarship are expected to represent the Temple College Art Department. Applicants must spend some time and energy doing this. Art students need to attend art openings, help hang exhibitions, represent the department in local and regional exhibitions, and in general promote and represent the art department at Temple College.

Art department scholarships are based on merit, scholastic achievement, artistic potential, and financial need. For a portfolio review, please call and make an appointment (254-298-8570 or 1-800-460-4636). Previous Temple College scholarship recipients do not need to make an appointment, but must fill out a new application. Art history majors do not need to present a portfolio for review.
