Vocational Nursing

Temple College Nursing is now accepting applications for the Vocational Nursing Program (Temple Campus and Taylor Campus) that will begin Summer 2020.  The deadline to apply is February 13, 2020.  All applicants must be TSI compliant at the time they apply.

Temple College offers vocational nursing programs in both Temple and Taylor. The programs lead to a certificate of completion and allow graduates to apply to take the state licensing exam for vocational nursing (LVN). Currently, the programs consist of three consecutive semesters. All coursework is provided within the Nursing Department except BIOL 2401 - Anatomy & Physiology I and BIOL 2402 - Anatomy & Physiology II.

 Application Procedure

The Vocational Nursing program requires a separate application and admission process from Temple College. Applications may be submitted at either the Temple or Taylor Nursing offices.

  2. Take the HESI Admission Assessment at the Testing Center
  3. Complete and return the program application

Accreditation
The Vocational Nursing Program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing .
 Clinical Affiliates

The program uses several settings to provide the nursing students with a variety of clinical experiences. Several hospitals in the area are utilized including Baylor Scott and White Health , and the Central Texas Veteran’s Health Care System.

In addition to the hospital based experiences, the Vocational Nursing students also have opportunities to practice clinical skills in a number of local nursing homes and long-term care facilities as well as outpatient clinics and community health organizations.

All of these experiences help prepare the VN student for the workplace environment.

 Program Highlights
  • Students in the Temple program have had NCLEX-PN pass rates of more than 90 percent since 2011, with a 100 percent pass rate in 2016 and 2018.
  • Students in the Taylor program had a 100 percent NCLEX-PN pass rate in 2012 - 2014, 2017 and 2018.
