Temple College offers vocational nursing programs in both Temple and Taylor. The programs lead to a certificate of completion and allow graduates to apply to take the state licensing exam for vocational nursing (LVN). Currently, the programs consist of three consecutive semesters. All coursework is provided within the Nursing Department except BIOL 2401 - Anatomy & Physiology I and BIOL 2402 - Anatomy & Physiology II.
Degrees & Certificates
The Vocational Nursing program requires a separate application and admission process from Temple College. Applications may be submitted at either the Temple or Taylor Nursing offices.
|The Vocational Nursing Program is approved by the Texas Board of Nursing.|
The program uses several settings to provide the nursing students with a variety of clinical experiences. Several hospitals in the area are utilized including Baylor Scott and White Health, and the Central Texas Veteran’s Health Care System.
In addition to the hospital based experiences, the Vocational Nursing students also have opportunities to practice clinical skills in a number of local nursing homes and long-term care facilities as well as outpatient clinics and community health organizations.
All of these experiences help prepare the VN student for the workplace environment.
