MATH 0314 - College Algebra Supplement – This course includes a study of relations and functions, inequalities, algebraic expressions and equations (absolute value, polynomial, radical, rational), with a special emphasis on linear and quadratic expressions and equations. This course is a mainstreamed intensifier providing contact hours for additional, just-in-time instructional support for the student’s success in the MATH 1314 College Algebra course.
-
MATH 0332 - Contemporary Mathematics Supplement - This course provides additional contact hours for just-in-time instructional support for the student’s success in the Math 1332 Contemporary Mathematics/Quant course. Topics include the student of real numbers and their subsets including operations on real numbers; conversions between fractions, decimals and percents; evaluating expressions using the order of operations as well as solving equations related to applications of financial mathematics, probability and statistics. Students will be provided additional instruction in creation and analysis of organizational displays of data using appropriate technology including Excel.
-
MATH 1314 - College Algebra - This course is an in-depth study and application of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions their inverses and compositions as well as systems of linear equations using matrices.
-
MATH 1324 - Mathematics For Business and Social Sciences - The application of common algebraic functions, including polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and rational, to problems in business, economics and the social sciences are addressed. The applications include mathematics f finance, including simple and compound interest and annuities; systems of linear equations; matrices; linear programming; and probability, including expected value.
-
MATH 1332 - Contemporary Mathematics/Quant - This course is intended for Non-STEM majors. Topics include introductory treatment of sets and logic, financial mathematics, probability and statistics with appropriate applications. Number sense, proportional reasoning, estimation, technology and communication of understanding are embedded throughout the topics.
-
MATH 1442 - Elementary Statistical Methods - This course includes the collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data, and probability. Analysis includes descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Students use appropriate technology including StatCrunch and Applets for exploration from the MAA Stat Prep program.
-
MATH 2412 -Pre-Calculus Math - This course is an in-depth study of algebra, trigonometry and other topics for calculus readiness. Topics include trigonometric functions and their graphs, trigonometric equations, solutions of triangles, inverse trigonometric functions, vectors and conic sections.
-
MATH 2413 - Calculus I - This course includes Limits and continuity; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; the definition of the derivative of a function and techniques of differentiation; applications of the derivative to maximizing or minimizing a function; the chain rule, mean value theorem, and rate of change problems; curve sketching; definite and indefinite integration of algebraic, trigonometric, and transcendental functions, with an application to calculation of areas
-
MATH 2414 - Calculus II - This course is a continuation from Calculus I. The course includes a continuation of areas under a curve, differentiation and integration of transcendental functions, calculus of parametric equations and polar coordinates, techniques of integration, sequences and series, including Taylor and Maclaurin series, applications of the definite integral, and improper integrals.
