Kadie Berlin Kadie BerlinKadie Berlin has been named the new head softball coach at Temple College. She replaces Kristin Zaleski, who left over the summer to become the new head coach at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.

Berlin joins the Leopards from Northern Oklahoma College, where she has been serving as head softball coach since 2014. Prior to that, she served as pitching coach at Southwestern Oklahoma State University from 2012 to 2014.

Berlin is a native of Wichita, Kansas. She played softball at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas, and finished her softball career at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. In her senior season at Ottawa, her team finished first in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) tournament and appeared at the 2010 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament.

While she was a student-athlete at Pratt Community College and Ottawa University, Berlin was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic All-American, NAIA Academic All-KCAC, NAIA Daktronic Scholar Athlete, and NAIA Academic All-American. She graduated cum laude from Ottawa University in 2011 with bachelor’s degrees in business administration and accounting, and completed her master’s degree in business administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Berlin began her coaching career at Pratt Community College, where she was the assistant softball coach and coordinator of college relations and special programs. During the summers, she has coached college prep softball teams, umpired and was the director of the Weatherford, Oklahoma, softball league.

“The hiring committee felt Kadie would be a really good fit for Temple College,” said athletics director Craig McMurtry. “She conveyed a strong desire to build real relationships with her players, to focus on academics as a vital part of her program, and to put a team on the field that competes to the best of their ability each and every game. What more could you ask for?”

Berlin said she was grateful to McMurtry for giving her the opportunity to coach a nationally recognized softball program. “I am looking forward to continuing the tradition of Temple College softball,” she said.
