Federal Direct Loan Program (DL)

You must complete the following two steps after “Signing In” at www.StudentLoans.gov in order for you to receive your loan funds:

Step One: Complete your Master Promissory Note (MPN).

Be sure to choose “Complete MPN” for “Subsidized/Unsubsidized”. For assistance call 1-800-557-7394.

Step Two: Complete on-line Entrance Counseling.

You will be asked to choose Counseling Type, your school state, and your school name. At this point, you may choose the school or schools to whom you want that information to go. You MUST successfully complete and submit the quiz.

First-Time Loan Borrowers must attend an in-person loan counseling session in addition to on-line loan counseling. Please refer to the Important Information sheet for dates, times, and locations. First Time Loan Borrowers need to submit the “First Time Borrower Application and Promissory Note” that can be downloaded from the Financial Aid website for the appropriate semester.

A student is classified as a First Time Loan Borrower if he/she has never received student loan funds before. You are only a First Time Loan Borrower for the first semester that you borrow a loan. If you have any questions discerning this statement, please contact the financial aid office.

PLEASE NOTE: FAILURE TO COMPLETE ALL OF THESE PROCESSES WILL RESULT IN THE DELAY OF YOUR LOAN FUNDS.

Students who had loans at Temple College during the 2009-2010 academic year do not have to sign another MPN, complete on-line loan counseling or attend another in-person loan counseling session.
