Pharmacy Technician

A pharmacy technician is a health care provider who performs pharmacy-related functions, generally working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. As a pharmacy technician you will help the pharmacist package or mix prescriptions, maintain client records, refer clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assist with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collect payments and coordinate billing.


Degrees & Certificates

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to apply for registration as a pharmacy technician in their state, and be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareers Association (NHA) examinations.

Program Information

Admission Requirements

Individuals must meet the following requirements for admission:

  • Have earned a high school diploma, GED, or High School Equivalency Certificate.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Have a photo ID and a Social Security card.
  • Be willing to complete a criminal history background check (individuals with any infractions that would prohibit state certification will not be admitted into the program).
  • Be willing to provide evidence of the following required immunizations via Castlebranch electronic compliance tracker:
    •  Flu shot, hepatitis B series vaccine, tetanus, two measles, rubella, mumps, two varicella, and the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Proof of completion of the CPR course for Healthcare Provider.
  • Prior to the beginning of the externship, students must:
    • A tuberculosis skin test, 30-days prior to externship
    • Be willing to provide the results from a drug screening test (wait on the instructor to request before completing).
    • Tuition must be paid in full prior to the externship.
Application Procedure

The Pharmacy Technician course is offered once a year and the class size is limited to the first 25 students who have completed the application process.

The completed application packet and all required documentation must be dropped off in person at the BCE Registration Office.

Tuition & Payment Options

Total Cost: $2,495 (includes textbooks and PTCB exam voucher)

Payment  Plan: $2,525 Total Cost (includes tuition, textbooks, exam voucher, and a $30 one-time payment plan fee)

The first payment of $529 is due at the time of registration and includes the one-time $30 fee. Four additional payments of $499 are due monthly. Cash payments cannot be used to set up payment plans; payment plans are set up online. Checking and routing information is preferred.  Credit and debit card payments are accepted but additional fees apply.

Financial Aid: Eligible students may receive financial aid for 50% of the tuition.  Apply at www.studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
