TC Sets Free Financial Aid Workshop Temple College will host the 4th annual College Goal Sunday, an opportunity for college-bound students and their parents to apply for financial aid, on Feb. 21. Financial aid experts will help students and their parents complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21, at One College Centre on the TC main campus. Students will not only leave with a completed FAFSA, but will also leave with information about grants, scholarships, loans and other ways the federal and state government can help pay for college. Temple College is one of 35 locations across the state to host a College Goal Sunday financial aid workshop. The event is open to any prospective student whether they plan to attend TC or another college. “Last year more than 65 students and their parents attended College Goal Sunday at TC,” Rachae Ollison, TC Financial Aid Specialist and event coordinator, said. “This year we hope to serve 75 to 100 students.” Each year the federal government awards more that $80 billion in financial aid for higher education. According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texans received $4 billion in aid last year. A strong College Goal Sunday turnout in 2010 will help remove financial need as a barrier to higher education. For more information contact Rachae Ollison at 254-298-8322.
