Introduction Interlibrary loan services are provided for currently enrolled students, faculty and staff of Temple College. The interlibrary loan request process begins when a desired book or periodical article is not found in the Dawson Library. In many instances, particularly with regard to periodical articles, it is possible to find a similar article through the online databases available through the Dawson Library web site. We ask that all our available resources be checked before making an interlibrary loan request. Ask a library staff member for help in searching for books and periodical articles if you are unsuccessful. Once it is determined that an interlibrary loan request is necessary, we will help you fill out a request form. If you are working from a computer outside the library use the online library materials request form. The following sections on this page are
written with the assumption that you have the title of a book or a
periodical citation and have not found, or not yet searched for the item
in the library. Temple Campus Students Please check the online catalog in order to see if the book you
need is part of the library collection. Normally, items owned by the
Dawson Library will not be requested through interlibrary loan. In
such a situation you may place a hold on a checked out book. If you are
looking for a magazine or journal article, check to see if the library
owns that title by searching our online
databases. If the Dawson Library does not have the item you need
and you must have it within a day or two, you should check to see if
another library in the area has the book or periodical that you
seek. If you live in the Temple area, check the online catalogs of
the following libraries: Temple Public
Library, The University of
Mary Hardin-Baylor, and Central Texas
College. If the desired book is found at one of these libraries,
you may go to the library that has the book and check it out with a
TexShare card. Temple College faculty, staff and students may
check out books from other libraries through TexShare. Come to the library in
order to get a TexShare card. If a periodical title is searched for
and found at a local library, you can go to that library and obtain the
article. Taylor and Cameron Center

Once you have exhausted the options presented in the preceding sections, and you need to make an interlibrary loan request, you have two options for submitting your request. 1. Come to the Dawson Library and fill out an interlibrary loan request form. 2. Fill out the library materials request form. It is very important that the form be filled out as completely as possible. Once the form is received and the request made, it will take approximately 3-7 days for a periodical article to arrive, 5-10 days for a book. You will be notified either by telephone or by e-mail (if you give us an address) when the item arrives. Temple campus students should come to the Dawson Library to pick up their material. Cameron student will have items sent to the Cameron center. Taylor students will have items sent to the Taylor Public Library for them to pick up.
