Erin first became interested in EMS while studying biology at Rice University.  She obtained her EMT-B and EMT-I certifications in 2003, and volunteered with Rice EMS and Harris County ESD-1.

She earned her B.A. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Rice in 2005, then moved to Leander (just north of Austin).  Erin has been a volunteer with the Leander Fire Department since 2005, earning the EMT of the year award in 2006.  Also in 2006, she made the decision to attend paramedic school at Temple College, and successfully completed the program in May of 2007.   Erin was then hired by Austin/Travis County EMS, and has been happily working there ever since. 

Erin has been teaching in EMS since 2004, when she was a skills instructor for the EMT-B and EMT-I classes offered by Rice EMS, and has since taught classes for both LFD and Temple College.
