This site is intended as a study adjunct for our paramedic students. Most of the information in this site initially came from Mosby’s Paramedic Textbook. We've refined that information based on what we want our students to know. We have occasionally added information about mechanism of action from Bertram Katzung’s Basic & Clinical Pharmacology. We also occasionaly use ePocrates Rx (available at no charge from epocrates.com for PalmPilot and Pocket PC devices) and Appleton & Lange's Drug Guide.
We have done our best to assure that the information on this site is accurate, however, please refer to your local protocol in the case of conflict.
Each of the following links will take you to a page with the following information: Alternate Names, Class, Description (Mechanism of Action) Onset, Duration, Indications, Contraindications, Adverse Reactions, Drug Interactions, How Supplied, Dosage and Adminstration, Special Consideration.
We suggest that you use this site as cyber-flashcards. Before clicking on the medication links, try to recall the information on your own. we will periodically update the site, adding new medications and correcting any errors we find.
This site was originally developed by Jeff Jarvis while he was the department chair. He has since moved on to Medical School at UTMB at Galveston. We are very greatful for the work that he did and thus continue to name the site after him.
