Selecting separate files © R. Craig Collins, 2005

While it is easy to select one file by simply clicking on the file once with the left mouse button, on occasion you may wish to select several files that are not grouped together, such as

file1.txt«
file2.txt
file3.txt«
file4.txt«
file5.txt

If you wanted to select just the first, third, and fourth file, you would:

  1. click once on the first file of the group
  2. press and hold the [Ctrl] key, then
  3. select the additional files

The various files are now selected to delete, to copy, to move, etc.
