Controlling File Names
Many Windows computers are set up to hide known file extensions; this can be very confusing for computer students.
To set your computer to display the entire file name:
 • Chick Start, then open My Computer or Windows Explorer (if using Vista, it is called simply Computer)
 • Choose Tools\Folder Options... (for Vista users, press the [Alt] key to reveal the Tools menu), then select Folder Options)

 • Choose the View tab
 • Click off the check mark next to 'Hide extensions for know file types'
       • Click OK

• Begin Window D-E-F

   •Complete Lab 4 and verify (You will later transfer this information into a D2L dropbox)

   •Windows D-F
   •Compression
   •Windows XP-Vista Desktop properties/settings
   •Answer questions concerning topics covered in Lab 5 and begin activities (You will later transfer this information into a D2L quiz)

•Submit by 11:59 pm, Friday, of the current week (see due dates)
   • Lab 4 as directed
      • Using D2L dropbox       • Using D2L Quizzes      • Logon to D2L
   • MUD 7 (My Understanding, Details) Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you feel very comfortable with? Why?
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you not feel comfortable with?
   • Participation Discussion 7 Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      How do you create a new folder? 
     • Using D2L discussions      • Logon to D2L

   •Read Windows J (Managing Shared Files)
   •Read Windows K (Sharing Information among Programs)

•Each test has a review; you may wish to write out pertinent information from the readings and activities
