General Lab Directions
Note: There is not enough time in lecture to cover all the material; read your book BEFORE you begin the lab
  • Check with your Instructor for due date
  • Document the required steps before you start the lab (this documentation will be turned in): 30%
  • Hands on Grading
    • 0 mistakes: 30%
    • 1 or 2 mistakes: 25%
    • 3 or 4 mistakes: 20%
    • 5 or 6 mistakes: 10%
  • Activity: 40%


  • Create a new Group Policy Object
  • Modify Security and Software Restriction Policies
  • Modify Administrative Template Policies
  • Use RSoP and Modify Group Policy priorities

































Follow book instructions to Install IIS (http and ftp)
Open Network Administration/IIS management
Expand all
note automatically installed page and picture in inetpub/wwwroot

Open interpub/wwwroot in My Computer
Check properties
note automatically installed Internet guest account
enable internet guest read access
Consider case by case for list and execute

In My computer, double click iisstart.htm
Start new browser and type in servername/
should open same page

In My Computer/inetpub/wwwroot
right click and create folder
right click and create new text document called default.htm

Switch to console
refresh to see new document and folder
Start new browser and type in servername/
should open your new 'default' page

Switch to MMC
Choose Action/New/Virtual Directory
Create directory alias virtual
Browse to faculty folder accept default settings and finish

Open My Computer\C:\users\faculty
note name of some text document
Start new browser and type in servername/virtual/name of text document

Install remote administration, according to book directions
in MCC open Web sites, select Administration, then click properties icon 
Change port assingments, and note ssl port
open https://server:new ssl port/default.asp

Display ftp structure

Create notes on how to install and configure web server
include installation
configuration
 permissions
 directories
 virtual directories
 list or not list
 which pages open automatically
 
Distill info from book that is pertinent to you
