Items that should be accomplished before the beginning of the current time frame:
   • Read the Syllabus(pdf), Syllabus appendix (pdf), using TC Web Mail, using D2L, then
   • Review Using Email, as needed, from your Office book
   • Read Collins' Classes Orientation; If taking this as an On-Line class, read the Online 1294 Orientation
Reminder: Did you check your TC WebMail? Did you check the Quarantine folder?

      • All students must check into D2L at least twice a week, and partipate using the Discussions area of D2L.
      •After reading the syllabus and syllabus appendix, complete the Syllabus Quiz in D2L (not graded, but must be completed before you can access discussions  

   •Using the Book on CD for Practical PC for Practical PC, work through ALL of
      • Getting Started (Practical PC Chapter 1),
      • Windows (Practical PC Chapter 2),
      • and eMail (Practical PC Chapter 9)
         • A little about netiquette and smileys
         • A little about networks

•My notes duplicate my traditional class lecture, the point of which is to try to fill in the gaps left by text books.
   •Your book doesn't cover the following as well as I would like:
      •Zip: A file that can contain multiple files, or more importantly, a file that is compressed to take up less space;
           useful for emailing attachments, or for uploading.
           NOTE: the ZIP contents are not always usable as is.
           Thus, you should not try to read or edit zip files until you download them and extract them.
           If redoing a lab, delete the zip, and edit the original files.

           Lab 2 includes creating a zip. After reading the instructions, you may watch a video on the process here.

   • Complete
      • Lab 1 and begin Lab 2 (You will later transfer this information into a D2L dropbox)

      •Test 1 Review , based on Big Picture/Terms

Submit by 11:59 pm, Friday, of the current week (see due dates)

   • Lab 1 and Lab 2* as directed
      • I will not count off if Lab 2 is a little late, but it does need to be in by the end of Overview 2       

For each WEEK there are separate discussions, so you will have MULTIPLE discussions per OVERVIEW

   • Introduce yourself to the class

   • MUD 1 (My Understanding, Details) Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you feel very comfortable with? Why?
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you not feel comfortable with?
   • Participation Discussion 1 Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What is your level of computer comfort? 

   • MUD 2 (My Understanding, Details) Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you feel very comfortable with? Why?
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you not feel comfortable with?
   • Participation Discussion 2 Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      Why zip files or folders? 

   • MUD 3 (My Understanding, Details) Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you feel very comfortable with? Why?
      What topics, if any, during this time frame do you not feel comfortable with?
   • Participation Discussion 3 Respond in the class D2L Discussion forum to the following:
      What word processors have you used? 

 If submitting by Temple College Desire2Learn:
       •Log into D2L, scroll to the bottom, and choose the correct course
       •When the Course Home Page appears, click on the desired tool link.
