      Skip to MLA citation format to see what MLA citations look like... recall you should use Word to do your bibliography, footnotes, and citations.

Check with instructor for due date, often the last day of class before finals.

Purpose: Capstone: To provide a practical exercise using the all the tools presented in class, together. 
This project is NOT related to previous Word, the Excel, and/or the PowerPoint labs. .

This project is designed to allow you to reinforce your software skills, and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office after your have practiced those skills with previous labs, while you work within your field.

Requirements: 

A research paper/report on any course related topic of your choice.  Example topic choices may be:

• A topic regarding health care such as Nutrition, Exercise, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Attacks, etc
• A topic dealing with computers in a Medical job
• A topic dealing with the health such as Water Conservation, Waste Control, Natural Disasters, Pollution, etc
  
• How computers are used in Business
  How computers are used in your business
  
• Buying a computer for home use
  
  
• The paper must be typed using these Word features (see a brief overview of these Word features here):
• Title/Cover Sheet
• A 1000+ word report created using Microsoft Word. Will be about 3 full pages, double spaced, 12 point font.
• Must be double spaced using a 12-point Times Roman font and no more than 1 inch margins on all sides.
• Must include a bibliography with at least three references (sources) in MLA format. One can be an Internet reference
• Must include at least one footnote or end-note (for a quote or novel idea)
• Should include your name and page number in the header
• The first paragraph (Introduction) should include an overview of the topics you will cover
• The last paragraph(s) (conclusion) should recap the overview, and then express your opinion, based on what you learned.
• Show evidence of planning, be well written, demonstrate knowledge of Word,
  saved as yourname-project.docx
• At the bottom of this page is a sample mock up of a capstone project, including a bibliography/works cited example

• A spreadsheet with formulas or a chart created with Microsoft Excel. (This could show pay scales, comparison of working hours, or labor statistics such as growth in job openings in your chosen field of interest or other data.) You should copy the results into your word document and presentation, but you must still submit the spreadsheet file,
  saved as yourname-project.xlsx
• Capstone grading details here
  
• A Microsoft PowerPoint slide presentation of six (6) or more slides summarizing your findings.
  • The PowerPoint presentation must have a title slide
  • overview slide that echoes your papers introduction with at least three topics
  • at least three slides with details on the topics
  • and summary slide with overview recap, then conclusion based on your paper's conclusion .
• Include clip art or other source of art on at least one slide
  saved as yourname-project.pptx

       •Log into D2L, scroll to the bottom, and choose the correct course
       •When the Course Home Page appears, click on the Dropbox link.
              •You may click on Discussions, Dropbox, or Quizzes below, for more info

       
Dropbox directions

• 1. Choose the class for which you want to drop off an assignment.
  2. Find the Dropbox tool, click on it.
  3. Choose the appropriate Dropbox folder, click on it.
  4. Choose [Add a File], then choose [Browse]; you may need to choose (My) Computer first
  5. Find the file that you would like to upload and click open, then choose [Upload]
  6. Type in a short description or comment about the file, if you like.
  7. Select [Add] for any additional files that may be pertinent, and repeat
  8. After your files have been selected, click [Submit]. (To upload and submit you will always click at least twice)
  9. Some files may take a long time to upload (especially if there are graphics in the file).

• Did my file get through?
  1. Go to the Dropbox tool
  2. Click the number under Submissions
  3. All of the assignments that have been submitted will be listed.
