Word Crash Course

General Lab Directions
Note: There is not enough time in lecture to cover all the material; read your book BEFORE you begin the lab

Check with your Instructor for due date, typically Midweek, 11:59PM, of the last full week of the semester

Purpose: Capstone: To allow the student to evaluate various network solutions, security needs, and maintenance and troubleshooting.. 

Requirements: 

• The paper must be typed using these guidelines:
• 3 points: Title/Cover Sheet
• 20 points: A 1000+ word report created using Microsoft Word. Will be about 3 full pages, double spaced
• 9 points:
• (3 points) Must be double spaced
• (3 points) using a 12-point font and
• (3 points) no more than 1 inch margins. (3 points)
• 5 points Must include an introduction and overview.
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, Setting up a Windows Network
• 5 points content
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, Setting up a *IX Network
• 5 points content
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, security threats
• 5 points content
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, security solutions
• 5 points content
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, troubleshooting techniques
• 5 points content
• 8 points;
• 3 points label, monitoring and maintaining
• 5 points content
• 15 points;
• Recap 5 points,
• Conclusion 10 points: The conclusion should recap the paper, and then express your opinion, based on what you learned.

 

for Labs that require files to be electronically submitted
 • select all the files required, or better, select the folder that contains all the files
 • zip the required file(s) and/or folder(s)
 • rename the zipped file to reflect your name and the lab being turned in
       •Example: yourname-lab1 or yourname-lab1.zip (if your extensions are visible)

To submit by Temple College Desire2Learn:
       •Log into D2L, scroll to the bottom, and choose the correct course
       •When the Course Home Page appears, click on the Dropbox link.
              •You may click on Discussions, Dropbox, or Quizzes below, for more info

Dropbox directions

• 1. Choose the class for which you want to drop off an assignment.
  2. Find the Dropbox tool, click on it.
  3. Choose the appropriate Dropbox folder, click on it.
  4. Choose [Add a File], then choose [Browse]; you may need to choose (My) Computer first
  5. Find the file that you would like to upload and click open, then choose [Upload]
  6. Type in a short description or comment about the file, if you like.
  7. Select [Add] for any additional files that may be pertinent, and repeat
  8. After your files have been selected, click [Submit]. (To upload and submit you will always click at least twice)
  9. Some files may take a long time to upload (especially if there are graphics in the file).
• Did my file get through?
  1. Go to the Dropbox tool
  2. Click the number under Submissions
  3. All of the assignments that have been submitted will be listed.
