General Lab Directions
Note: There is not enough time in lecture to cover all the material; read your book BEFORE you begin the lab
Check with your Instructor for due date, typically Friday, 11:59PM, of the
last full week of the semester
Purpose: Capstone: To allow the student to evaluate various network solutions, security needs, and maintenance and troubleshooting..
Requirements:
- The paper must be typed using these guidelines:
- Title/Cover Sheet
- A 1000+ word report created using Microsoft Word. Will be about 3 full pages, double spaced.

•To check the number of words, go to File\Properties\Statistics
- Must be double spaced using a 12-point font and no more than 1 inch margins.
- Must include an introduction and overview.
- Must include a clearly labeled section on Setting up a Windows Network
Must include a clearly labeled section on Setting up a *IX Network
- Must include a clearly labeled section on security threats
- Must include a clearly labeled section on security solutions
- Must include a clearly labeled section on troubleshooting techniques
- Must include a clearly labeled section on monitoring and maintaining operating system security
- The conclusion should recap the paper, and then express your opinion, based on what you learned.
