General Lab Directions
Note: There is not enough time in lecture to cover all the material; read background info BEFORE you begin the lab
  • Check with your Instructor for due date
  • Document the required steps before you start the lab (this documentation will be turned in): 30%
  • Hands on Grading
    • 0 mistakes: 30%
    • 1 or 2 mistakes: 25%
    • 3 or 4 mistakes: 20%
    • 5 or 6 mistakes: 10%
  • Activity: 40%

Installing a Jet Direct Printer
  • Determine the type of printer, and add to documentation
  • Determine the IP_ port number of the printer, and add to the documentation
  • Open the Printers Control Panel, right click, and choose to add printer
  • Choose Local Printer
  • Create a new port/Standard TCP/IP port
  • Type in the IP address (this will automatically configure the port)
  • Select the type printer
  • Print a test page, attach to your documentation
  • Right click the new printer, and go to the Security Properties
  • Summarize the remainder of the Printers pdf as part of documentation
  • Pay special attention to setting up a printer pool, and troubleshooting

    .The following steps are part of Lab 6, but deal with the printer

  • Add your faculty group, and allow them to print
  • [Alt] [Prt Scn] and paste image into your documentation
  • Add your student group, and prevent them from printing
  • [Alt] [Prt Scn] and paste image into your documentation
