General Lab Directions
Note: There is not enough time in lecture to cover all
the material; read your book BEFORE you begin the lab
Note: Typically labs will require you to invest some time in the lab, outside
of class lecture hours
- Check with the Instructor for the due date
- Write a term paper on troubleshooting and maintaining computers.
- Include steps to take to locate problems with a computer
- Include
- An introduction where you give an overview of the following topics:
- A clearly labeled paragraph on Boot errors and general solutions
- A clearly labeled paragraph on Hard Drives errors and general solutions
- A clearly labeled paragraph on RAM errors and general solutions
- A clearly labeled paragraph on OS problems errors and general solutions
- A clearly labeled paragraph on Application problems errors and general
solutions
- Where it makes sence, include a comparion on how different operating
systems are alike or similar in regard to troubleshooting and
maintenance
- A conclusion where you recap the important points, and then finish
by explaning which OS you might recommend on the basis of reliability.
Grading points
- 30 pt: 3-5 pages, double space, 1 inch margins, 10-12 point font (-10 if
not a minimum of three FULL pages)
- 10 pt: Introduction with overview
- 50 pt: Clearly labeled paragraphs on boot, hard drive, RAM, OS, and apps
for different OSs
- 10 pt: Conclusion with recap
for Labs that require files to be electronically submitted

zipped file to reflect your name and the lab being turned in

on the Drop Box/Tools button
•Select the Digital Drop Box
•Select the [Add file]
• For Name,
type in the name of the lab
• For File
• [Browse...]
to the file you wish to submit,
• Choose
[Open] to select it
• For Comments,
include your name, your class, your section, and what you are submitting
•Select Submit
