All assignments are e-mailed to instructor at barbara.carpenter@templejc.edu by due date and time. DO NOT use the "Send to Instructor" link on the CD. All Chapter Tests and labs are accessed through the CD that came with your textbook. No late work or assignments will be accepted for any reason. No exceptions.  Anything not turned by the due date will result in a grade of zero.  Working ahead on all semester assignments is strongly encouraged.

Week 1 – August 28

Under GETTING STARTED on the course Web Page, read the material and follow the instructions to begin this course.

Read Chapters 1 and 2 in The Practical PC textbook.

Introduction to CD-ROM Resource – Read instructions under the Before You Begin section of The Practical PC textbook to learn how to use the CD supplied with the textbook.

Format a Diskette.  See directions and diagram in The Practical PC textbook on page 46 or click here for instructions to format a floppy disk.

Create Tracking Disk.  See directions on page xiii under the Before You Begin section of the The Practical PC textbook.  Click here to see the procedure.

Click here for Computer terms.  These terms will be in the first few chapters and will be on the Mid-term test.  Know these terms!  Click on this link to learn how RAM works.  Click on this link to see how an Operating system (OS) works.

Research Project

Start thinking about the topic of your Research Project now. The Research Project is due by 8:00 am on October 16, 2006.
