29th Annual Central Texas
Art Competition & Exhibition
November 15 - December 3, 2008

The Central Texas Art Competition is sponsored by Altrusa International of Temple and the Temple South Rotary Club. The exhibition is coordinated by the Temple College Art Department.

Statement
The two-fold goal of the competition is to encourage and challenge the student artists in the Central Texas area. It also provides an opportunity for the appreciation of the creative efforts of these artists.

Eligibility
All students who are now enrolled in the following high schools and colleges:

There will be two separate divisions: High School and College. High School contestants will compete with high school students only. There will be a separate division for college students. Each student can submit up to 3 entries.  There is no entry fee.

Juror: Eric Weller
Eric Weller is a full professor and former head of the Photography Department at Texas State University in San Marcos. His photographs are nationally recognized.

Prizes & Awards
Prize money will be awarded on the night of the opening. The Juror will award six $100 Awards of Excellence and two $50 Honorable Mention Awards in each division.

Type of Work
Original Paintings, Photography, Ceramics, Sculpture, Drawings, Prints, and Jewelry. Drawings and prints should be hinge-matted with stiff backing and ready to hang. Work without hangers will not be juried. Paintings should be framed, strip framed, or the edges painted in a presentable way. Work previously exhibited in this art competition may not be entered.

Responsibility
Every care will be exercised in the handling of the works, but neither the Altrusa, Rotary, nor Temple College will be responsible for the loss or damage of the works.

How To Enter
Fill out completely the identification cards as instructed and attach to your entries. Entries should be delivered in person. Works sent by Parcel Post or other mail services will not be accepted. The identification cards should be attached to the back of the work in the upper left hand corner. Works should be delivered on:

Monday, November 10
between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
           or
Tuesday, November 11
between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
to the gallery in the Temple College Visual Arts Complex, 2101 South 5th Street.

Return of Work
Works not accepted in the exhibition may be picked up in the gallery on the night of the opening, Saturday, November 15, or at the conclusion of the exhibition on Wednesday, December 3, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
