Write a two page paper on a person, a event, a group of people or a town from chapters 7-20 using three Internet sites and The New Handbook of Texas .* Please include the name of the sites you used in the paper or as footnotes. You may use the home page for this course and search engines like Excite (www.excite.com), Alta Vista (www.altavista.digital.com), Snap (www.snap.com), HotBot (www.hotbot.com), InfoSeek (www.infoseek.com), Yahoo (www.yahoo.com), and others to research the topic.

Write a two page lesson plan for students in a grades 3-12. You should do the lesson plan on a topic from chapters 7-20. Go to "The Texas Council for the Humanities Interactive" site and click on Learning Activities in the left box then find topics dealing with Texas, look at Teacher Activity and Student Learning Activity. You may do your lesson plan using these activities. If you wish to do a topic not in the Texas Council for the Humanities site you may want to use the "South Texas" or "Texas Through Time" sites which are set up for teachers.

You will need to have goals and objective for your lesson. You need to discuss how the students will do the assignments, writing you expect the students to do or what kind of testing will be done. You will need to look up the topic of your lesson plan in The New Handbook of Texas.* The information you get form The New Handbook of Texas may be used in the lesson plan as a introduction to be given to your students.

* You may use the Temple College library or "Texas Online" the Texas State History Association site for The New Handbook of Texas.
