Tentative Course Schedule:
Plan on covering (i.e. reading and answering the assigned questions) one chapter per week, at a minimum.
Worth 25% of your final grade, quizzes generally consist of the following:
(1) Three questions relating to each chapter’s material. You generally have about one week to answer each chapter’s assigned questions.
Reminder: All of the projects and exams will have a posted deadline that you must meet or receive a zero for that assignment. There are no make-up exams for this class.
Generally, you will have at least one week to arrange to
take an exam at your local community college testing center. You may take the
exam at any time over that week’s time period. Exams are online at the PageOut
website (under Gradebook) and consist of 25 to 50 multiple choice or true/false
questions. Exams, which are not cumulative, have a set time limit of 45 minutes
to one hour. The computer will submit the exam at the end of the time limit. No make-up exams
will be given for this course. That means if you fail
to take an exam, you will receive a zero for that exam that will be calculated
into your final grade average. Chapter quizzes
do not have to be taken at the testing center. You can take the quizzes online
at home.
v Online classes demand a lot of self-discipline. Only you know if you have or don’t have that characteristic. Essentially, you are learning on your own from the assigned textbook and questions. On the plus side, if you like to set your own hours and work at your own pace, online courses can be very useful in achieving your goals. Be aware that this Physical Geology class demands quite a lot of reading as the textbook is quite lengthy and we cover a lot of material.
