Course Description

The goal of this course is to examine and develop an understanding of the discipline of Human Anatomy and Physiology. This will be accomplished through a study of the 11 organ systems, the organs and tissues that make up those organ systems and the underlying chemical and physical processes on which the organ systems function. A recurring theme in this course will be normal, healthy human anatomy and physiology compared with examples of unhealthy, diseased human anatomy and physiology.

My goal is to help you, the student, achieve YOUR goals. I will do whatever I can to make this a positive learning experience. My goal is that this is a self-paced course, BUT I have created SUGGESTED schedules for completing the chapters and online exams. These deadlines will assure that the work is done on time and the student is able to complete the course in the allotted time.

This is a self-paced course. PLEASE, feel free to create your own schedule - but remember, all the material MUST be complete by the 1st day of Finals at the end of the semester.

Please see the Calendar page for the Suggested Schedules.

NOTE 1: there are two (2) suggested schedules and no actual dates in either.  The STUDENT is responsible for putting dates into the schedule.

One schedule is for a regular 16 (sixteen) week semester (such as the Fall or Spring semesters)
One schedule is for a 12 (twelve) week semester (such as a summer semester).

NOTE 2:  There are 20 (twenty) chapters and either 16 or 12 weeks in which to complete the course.  This means the student will have to complete 2 or more chapters per week in some cases in order to complete the course.

NOTE 3: The student is expected to study the material from each chapter and then go to a Testing Center and take a test over that chapter.  There are 20 chapters, therefore there are 20 tests.  Since the course is SELF paced, the student is responsible for determining when to take a test.  The student can study one chapter and then go take that test, or the student can study multiple chapters and then take multiple tests - that is completely up to the student.

NOTE 4: There are 'self-tests' included in the materials.  These self tests are for the student's use in determining his own knowledge of the material and whether he is ready to take the actual chapter test at the Testing Center.  Do NOT email the results to the instructor - it is for the student's use only.  In addition, there will be questions in the self tests that are NOT covered in the notes - if the material is NOT covered in the notes, feel free to skip it.
