Course Calendar: Readings/Assignments/Tests
The only official deadlines for this course are the last class day and the official date of the Final Exam as set by Temple College.

This class is designed to give the student the maximum flexibility so that the student can fit the class into the student's schedule.  As an Internet class, YOU are responsible for developing your own schedule so that you finish the class and assignments by the last class day and/or the date of the Final exam.

There are two deadlines:
    Midterm
    Final

Go to the official Temple College Schedule for the semester that you are enrolled in the class. Note the important dates for that semester - especially the last day of the semester.  All materials for this course must be complete by that date. Get a calendar of some kind and transfer the important dates to that calendar.  Build your schedule.

This class is 90% SELF-PACED.  YOU, the student, are responsible for creating a schedule for the class and achieving that schedule.

At the Midterm, you must have completed (read and tested) Chapters 1, 2, 3, 17, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.  The Midterm Lab will cover these topics.

At the Final, you must have completed (read and tested) Chapters 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, and 20, and review Chapter 17.

There are approximately 20 Lecture Exams in the class.  In a regular Fall or Spring semester, the student will have about 16 weeks to complete the course and in a summer semester, about 12 weeks.

There is a lecture exam for each chapter or section.  The student may take as few or as many lecture exams as desired on each login.  Each exam will require 15 to 25 minutes to complete.  Again, this is designed to give the student the maximum flexibility of schedule.

Here is a breakdown of the amount of TIME that I believe the student with at least some biology or chemistry background should spend with each chapter.  A student without a background in either biology or chemistry would perhaps increase the time per chapter by about 50%.  Once the student has studied the online notes and verified the concepts with the text book text and illustrations, the student should quickly review the online notes and go take the test.

Chapter #  and topic  Hours of study (reason for extra hours)
1   Introduction      2 - 4
2  Chemistry      2 - 4
3  Cells      4 - 5
4  Tissues      4 - 6
5   Integumentary      4 - 6
6  Skeletal      5 - 8
7  Muscular      8 - 10 (extra lab time)
8  Nervous      9 - 15 (lab and concepts)
9  Special Senses      3 - 5
10 Endocrine      4 - 8  (concepts)
11 Blood      6 - 9
12  Heart      6 - 9
13  Blood Vessels      6 - 9
14  Lymphatic/ Immune      6 - 12 (immune concepts)
15  Respiratory      8 - 12 (concepts)
16  Digestive      6 - 9
17  Metabolism      2 - 4
18 Urinary      4 - 6
19 Reproductive      8 - 12 (male and female systems)
20  Development, Genetic and Infectious  Diseases      3 - 5

There are a couple of different ways to get the studying done.

1.  Just make sure that the Chapters 1 - 9, and 17 have been read, and the lecture exams
finished by the Midterm Lab.  This will have the added benefit of preparing the student
      for the lab.

2. Create a schedule that studies a set number of chapters each week, and stick to it as
    closely as possible.

Here are SUGGESTED schedules for:
a regular 16 week semester (Fall or Spring),
    a 12 week summer semester

Above all, remember - there are 20 chapters and either 16 weeks or 12 weeks in which to finish all of them.  You MUST complete 2 or 3 chapters in one week - at least a couple times.
