Students Win Art AwardsTwo students received special awards at the opening of the Temple College Student Art Exhibition.
A photograph by Bob Hargrove was selected for the Purchase Award and will become part of the TC permanent art collection. The Paul Burns Prize for Excellence in Art History was presented to Christopher Moore. The scholarship achievement award was created in 2006 to honor the memory of Paul Eugene Burns III and to be given to art history students who show love of art history and dedication to excellence. The awards were presented at the exhibition opening on April 19 by Michael Donahue, art department chair. Donahue also introduced Marianne McGrath who will join the art faculty next fall. Ms. McGrath holds a bachelor of arts degree in studio art and an Access Students Certificate in ceramics from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a master of fine arts in studio art from the University of Texas at Austin.
The 2008 Student Art Exhibition will be on display through April 30 at the TC Visual Arts Complex located at 2101 S. Fifth St. in Temple. The exhibition showcases about 100 student works from the ceramics, photography, drawing, design, painting, and art appreciation classes. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday or by appointment.
