BUSINESS & COMMUNITY EDUCATION

In this constantly changing world, Business and Community Education is a critical component of the total educational program at Temple College. It is accomplished through non-credit coursework in several ways:
  • Customized training programs for businesses and other organizations which may be presented on-site or at Temple College. Let our workforce development experts help you identify specific employee or team development needs, create a targeted plan for addressing these, find the right facilitator to lead the sessions, and measure the results.

    Organizational development requires
    individual development.

  • Open enrollment, public offerings of courses and workshops to build individuals' knowledge and skills for personal and professional growth. These can help you become more effective in your current position or prepare you for increased responsibilities or even new career paths. The offerings range from vocational topics such as The Firefighter Academy, Phlebotomy, or Machinist Training, to computer skills, communication, customer service, selling skills, and leadership/management skills. The classes may be short in nature or on-going for several months. Some are classroom-based; some include labs or experiential activities; others are available on-line. More details, including Registration Procedures and Refund Policies, can be found on the General Information page. Be sure to register early for these classes. We hate to disappoint our students when we must cancel any classes due to low enrollment.

    Growth prevents
    personal and professional stagnation.

  • Concurrent courses allow you to participate in Temple College's technical/vocational credit courses without regard to your eligibility for admission to college-credit programs. You'll be able to attend college classes, learning from TC's regular instructors, avoiding test anxiety (concurrent class participants are exempt from tests and grades), and earning Continuing Education Units (CEUs) instead of semester-hour credits -- all at Community Education's lower fees. (Preference, though, will be given to credit students if a class is full.)

    Only through continuous improvement
    can you reach your potential.

  • Partnerships with local organizations to stimulate the minds of those outside the workforce world such as senior citizens and the youth of our community. Temple Parks and Leisure is our primary partner for non-work, leisure-related classes and activities.

Learning is a life-long process

Business and Community Education offerings are for you.
  • They are open to interested persons without regard to eligibility for admission to college-credit programs.
  • Most courses do not require a high school diploma.
  • Some classes do have pre-requisites, so be sure to check before registering.
  • Classes are open to those who are interested without regard to gender, disability, race, color, age, religion, national origin or veteran status. (For information on special accommodations, click here.)

Registration is easy.

  • First, check out the open-enrollment, non-credit courses we offer.
  • Then, see what's currently scheduled and the course fee.
  • Once you're ready to enroll, decide which of our four convenient and easy registration options works best for you.

Course completion is rewarding.

  • When you successfully complete most non-credit Business and Community Education courses, you're awarded Continuing Education Units (CEUs). These CEUs are recorded in a permanent transcript record.
  • Most rewarding of all, though, are the new knowledge and skills you'll gain from learning in our Business and Community Education classes.
This may lead to enhanced performance in your current job or better preparation for future career opportunities. At the very least, it will strengthen your self-esteem and confidence.

Increased competence leads to increased confidence.
Likewise, increased confidence leads to increased competence
