Things we do to help get you through.
Temple College is committed to making college attainable for all. We understand that “going to college” can be more than just tuition and books. We provide the following services to assist students in overcoming the additional obstacles that can make Higher Education a greater challenge than it should be.
- Textbook Loan Program
- Transportation assistance
- Tutoring
These services must be requested in The Student Support Services office (2nd floor One College Centre) for more info, call (254) 298-8333 or email
Cheryl Robinson.
- Workshops (offered at different times on many different subjects from Test Anxiety to Personal Finance) Check your email regularly for up coming Workshop Dates.
- Educational Assistance Center (2nd floor, One College Centre) Help with any of your Reading, Writing, or Math issues. This lab is for tutoring as well as all things challenging. Their goal is to help with comprehensive success in college.
- Disability Services Temple College abides by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which stipulates that no student shall be denied the benefits of an education. If you have a documented disability that may impact your performance and for which you may require accommodations, you must self Identify with and provide documentation of your disability to the Disability Coordinator. Documentation should be sent to (or hand delivered) Toni Cuellar (254) 298-8335
- Student Orientation to Online Learning Workshop This is a wonderful workshop that will give you all the skills and resources you will need to take online classes and access Smarthinking (online tutoring, available 24/7, free of charge to all Temple College students). They are typically offered several times before the start of a new semester. Please see the bottom of the Temple College home page for times and dates.
Temple College has a variety of ways and places that students can go to get help. We know that College Students are very busy, so we have online services that can be accessed 24/7 from any computer.
- Smarthinking –Online tutoring service, FREE to all TC students
- Library Databases –Search engines that help you find full text articles online for just about any assignment an instructor might give.
- TConnect –Our TC online student profile system to help you register online, get your grades, order transcripts and lots of other handy stuff.
- Desire 2 Learn –Our online learning platform for students in Online, Hybrid, and Web Enhanced classes.
- Web Mail –Your personal Temple College Email account; the primary way that instructors, Financial Aid, and other college personal will communicate with you.
- Click Here for a printout of access to all resources listed above.
It is vital to college success that you seek help for a problem the minute you think there might be a problem. We at Temple College are always here and ready to go the extra mile for our students. There are no “stupid” questions and the info that you gain may be useful to others you meet. If the first person you ask doesn’t know,…keep asking.
- Always go to class. Attendance policy or no attendance policy, it is always easier to get good grades when the instructor knows who you are and can see that you are making effort. Just like a job.
- If you are going to work full time, don’t try to go to school full time. Adult students often think that they can power through. I am sure that you are incredible and your commitment is deep, but a degree program is not intended to be a sprint. Slow and steady really does win this race. More students fail when trying to sprint through school than ever make it through.
- Take advantage of as many resources as you can find. If you think of one you need and it is not being provided,…ask us about it. If there is a way we can do it, we will.
Education is not a short ride, so stay in touch and stick together. We’ll all get there.
