Required State Testing:
Texas Success Initiative (TSI)

The Texas State Education Code requires that all students who enter public institutions of higher education in the fall of 2003 and thereafter must be tested for reading, writing and mathematics skills. This includes all full-time and part-time students enrolled in a degree or level two-certificate program. Performance on the test WILL NOT be used as a condition of admission. Contact the Testing Center at Temple College for additional information regarding possible exception or waivers to the testing requirement.

New college students are exempt from testing if they have met exemption level scores on their most recent TAKS (or other standardized test such SAT or ACT). These test scores can be found on your high school transcripts. It is always recommended that when you supply a transcript to a college campus, you order one for you own records.

Please contact the Testing Center at 254-298-8586 for clarification on your requirements and standing.
