Breanna Hernandez Breanna HernandezTemple College student Breanna Hernandez has been named Co-Pitcher of the Year for the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC) and coach Kristen Zaleski has been named the conference’s Co-Coach of the Year along with Brittanie Tally of Vernon College.

Five other players from Temple College were named to the conference’s 2019 All-Conference First Team: catcher Savanna Parker, infielders Alyssa Escamilla and Maddie Weatherly, and outfielders Tiler Noyola and Daily Gonzalez.

Hernandez, a second-year student from Round Rock, Texas, had a 20-2 season for the Leopards with an ERA of 2.27. She was named the conference Pitcher of the Week for the weeks of April 14-20 and April 21-27.

Zaleski has been coaching the team since 2010. This is the third time she has been named Coach or Co-Coach of the Year.

Parker is a first-year player from Splendora, Texas. She had a season batting average of .443 with 58 RBIs and 10 home runs. She was named the NTJCAC Softball Position Player of the Week for the week of April 14-20.

Escamilla is a first-year player from Weslaco, Texas, who plays shortstop for the Leopards. She had a season batting average of .480 and scored 74 runs.

Weatherly is a second-year player from Brenham, Texas, who plays first base for the Leopards. She had a season batting average of .380 with 72 RBIs and 13 home runs.  Last year she was named the Conference’s Player of the Year.

Noyola is a second-year player from Montgomery, Texas. She had a season batting average of .466 with 54 RBIs and 72 runs.  

 Gonzalez is a second-year player from McAllen, Texas. She had a season batting average of .440 with 47 RBIs and 35 runs.  

The softball team finished its season with a 43-9 record and was seeded #1 in the NJCAA Region V Tournament, which will be held in Weatherford May 4-6.
